Is a Biodiesel Vehicle the Right Choice for You?
If you are thinking about buying a new car or truck and with the
price of gas continuing to rise then maybe it's time to consider a vehicle that
uses an alternative fuel source. With the sudden energy crunch car makers are
coming out with a variety of hybrid and electric vehicles. But there is one
vehicle type that is already mass produced and on the market that could benefit
from one alternative fuel.
Biodiesel fuel, made from vegetable oil, can be used in any diesel powered
vehicle. Not only can it be used in a diesel engine but it is cost efficient and
an environmentally friendly renewable fuel source.
Many companies and even some local government agencies are starting to use
biodiesel fuel in their vehicles. They are finding it cheaper to produce and use
their own alternative biodiesel fuel source then to purchase regular diesel fuel
from the big oil companies. You may notice buses, waste trucks and construction
vehicles in your area carrying a sticker that labels them as a biodiesel
vehicle.
Finding a vehicle to run on biodiesel is an easy task. Many manufacturers are
starting to produce vehicles that run on biodiesel fuel. You may not be able to
readily find them on car lots, but if you talk to the dealership they should be
able to get you one. If they cannot sale you a made for biodiesel vehicle then
there are alternatives. You can get a biodiesel conversion kit for a new or
existing older vehicle and be running on biodiesel in no time. The kits can be a
little expensive but the cost savings over the life of the vehicle will pay for
the conversion kit in no time. There are many diesel equipped vehicles out there
that do not even need a kit to run on biodiesel, thus saving you even more
money.
If you already own a diesel car or truck then with a little research you should
be able to determine whether biodiesel will work for you. If it does you can
start to save thousands on your fuel costs every year.
Having and driving a car is part of the American way of life and a good reliable
vehicle is integral to that way of life. Why not take this one step farther and
help stop our reliance on foreign oil through the use of biodiesel fuels.
Biodiesel can be refined from local renewable sources and is much more
environmentally friendly than petroleum products. It can also help keep your
hard earned money in your pocket, instead of putting it into the local gas pump.
