Turn Vegetable Oil into Biodiesel Fuel

As the price of gasoline rises the need for alternative fuel sources becomes greater. Biodiesel, which is becoming more and more popular, might be one such alternative fuel source.

Ethanol is also a popular alternative fuel source that most of us have heard of. There are quite a few countries where it is sold. But most of these countries have cars made specifically to run on ethanol. Here in the U.S. we have not embraced cars that run on ethanol. But we do have hundreds of thousands of vehicles that run on diesel fuel and these would be ideal for using biodiesel.

If you have never heard of biodiesel then here's a quick introduction to what may be the fuel of the future. It is made from vegetable oil, a renewable resource, which is run through a biodiesel processor. This process only takes a few hours and before you know it you have a batch of biodiesel ready to burn in your diesel engine.

The start up cost of creating your own biodiesel fuel may be the one stumbling block with biodiesel kit costing several thousand dollars for a top end model. but once you have the kit set up and working you'll more than pay for it from the saving you get by not going to the local gas station.

If producing biodiesel is something you would like to try it is recommended that you research it as much as possible before you spend your hard earned money. The internet has many good sources of information on biodiesel and there are plenty of web sites devoted to just this subject. You can also find complete biodiesel fuel kits online and most companies will ship them right to your door.

Biodiesel fuel can be made from vegetable oil, canola oil or soy oil and is more
environmentally friendly then regular refined diesel fuel. In some instance if you have the right equipment you can even make it from recycled vegetable oil such as that found at restaurants.

You do have to be careful of one thing if you decide to use biodiesel. Some car companies will void their warranty and not cover any damage caused by the use of biodiesel fuel. But as the demand for newer and better alternative fuel sources increases many car companies will be force to change these policies.
